Arrowhead Stadium’s Tower Club East was filled with boundless joy on October 28. We safely championed futures, elevated support, and shared a wonderful surprise at the annual Little Learners Luncheon!
The event displayed a student art gallery viewing (view it HERE) and our arts-integrated curriculum through interactive experiences. Current arts partners and guests from Mesner Puppet Theater and Kansas City Civic Orchestra attended and offered performances and opportunities to learn more about the remarkable impact of their work and how it positively affects social-emotional development for our little learners.
“When I was invited to be a part of the event today, I was thrilled,” said emcee and KSHB-41 anchor, Rae Daniel. “I believe that all children should have the opportunity to have a quality education, no matter their circumstances.”
Every dollar invested in early education saves $4 to $9 in the form of reduced costs for special education, welfare, crime, and other later interventions in life.
“That’s right, these are real and tangible outcomes that let me know that my donation is at work,” Event Chair, Jon Baum shared with our UICS champions.
With incredible sponsors, donors, and presenting champions — Tom and Jan Kreamer and Kenneth and Ann Baum— we funded 16 futures through the Bobbye Jean Early Education Fund, a vital resource for UICS families. This scholarship fund provides peace of mind and eases the burden for working families that are economically vulnerable and unable to pay the market rate for a quality early education.
Terrence Fuller, Bobbye Jean Fuller’s son, was honored at the 2021 Little Learners Luncheon.
Ms. Fuller was a beloved UICS educator, leader, and champion for families. She passed away before we expanded across the Kansas City metro and into the Northland, but her son, Terrance Fuller, was able to join us in celebrating her memory.
“This is so much bigger than she thought was possible,” Terrence said. Fuller, Bobbye Jean’s son.
Finally, CEO Deidre Anderson shared exciting news.
“We embarked upon the journey of reimagining a UICS that reflects our evolution: an organization whose rich history began in the urban core but has expanded to serve children and families around the metro.”
