On Thursday, January 23, the Ailey Trio performed for St. Mark students and families and gave everyone a taste of what it takes to be an Ailey dancer. Three dancers from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Demetia Hopkins, Kanji Segawa, and Marcus Jerrell Willis, gave the audience a history of the Ailey company and its connection to Kansas City. They also performed several short dances, and then invited the students and their families to join them on stage for a dance lesson. They stressed how much practice it takes to be a dancer.
We are so grateful for Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey for bringing the Ailey Trio to St. Mark Child and Family Development Center. It was a night that everyone who attended will remember!
