Last Saturday’s second annual Puppets for the Planet Festival, in partnership with StoneLion Puppet Theatre was a huge success and everyone who attended enjoyed a beautiful 80 degree day. Our friends at StoneLion Puppet Theatre put together an awesome line-up of performances, including two StoneLion puppet shows, a spirited Dino O’Dell concert, a fascinating history and interactive demonstration of hip-hop by LeoNightUS, and a drum circle jam with Brother John Anderson. Mark Manning from the KCK Organic Teaching Gardens was on hand with his worm bins, teaching children and adults of all ages about worms and composting, Sister Act Face Painting adorned many faces, and thanks to our resident artist, Alex Espy, kids enjoyed an Edible Insect Cafe, and were able to make and take home their very own worm. We also had great community vendors who gave out valuable information, treats and prizes to the children and families who attended – we say a BIG THANK YOU to HealthCare USA, Central Bank, the Kansas City Public Library, CampFire USA, Lakeside Nature Center, and Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center.
