What if a Facebook post could help open a new classroom? Or if an Amazon purchase could change a little learner’s future? Join us by supporting students in a brand-new school year at United Inner City Services’ three locations!
Here are six ways you can support UICS classrooms as we head back to school!
1. Check out our Amazon Wishlist!
Our teachers think outside of the box when inspiring their classroom, which means we need supplies that aren’t normally on hand. We have an Amazon Wishlist with all these specialty items, which we update at the beginning of the month. Currently, our list includes mortars and pestles for making new paint colors, book binding equipment for creative stories, and overalls for fun in the mud kitchen. The items you purchase will ship directly to UICS, so you’ll impact futures with the click of a “Proceed to checkout” button.
Look at the full Wishlist here.
2. Donate to the Bobbye Jean Fuller Early Education Fund!
Bobbye Jean Fuller, who passed away in 2019, exemplified a powerful dedication to early childhood education. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child and Family Studies in 2006. However, she started at UICS-St. Mark Center as a volunteer in 1979, and led a life of purpose, advancing from bus monitor, to teacher, and all the way to St. Mark Center director.
She left a legacy of service and her Early Education Fund makes it possible for families to access quality education for their little learners.

3. Fund a Donors Choose project!
With Donors Choose, you can read what our teachers have to say about their classrooms and help fund their specific projects.
Right now, Ms. Shay, the lead teacher in the Performers Classroom, needs support integrating musical instruments into her curriculum. She is only $277 away from her goal of $351!
See all of the UICS Donors Choose projects here.
4. Sign up for RoundUp!
Your change can add up to a huge impact! When you sign up for RoundUp, it will round your credit or debit card purchases to the nearest dollar, and donate the difference to UICS. We will use those funds to support our classrooms and family advocacy programs. Here’s the best part, you can sign up right now in 30 seconds!
5. Share our Job Fair!
Our work would be impossible without one thing: people! Because of last year’s growth, we have positions open for an art coordinator, development team members, teachers, and more. Our next Job Fair is on August 28 at UICS-St. Mark Center. We’ll be holding on-the-spot interviews from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Onsite child care will be available.
We’d love for you to apply, but even a simple action, like sharing the event on Facebook with the child care advocates in your life, will make all the difference. We provide extensive training and support, but spreading the word through ambassadors like you is crucial.
Read through our available positions here.
6. Subscribe to our e-blast!
This last action to support little learners is the simplest. We’ll send you an e-blast with updates from all three centers, upcoming events, and new ways to get involved with early education advocacy. We’re sending opportunities to connect straight to your inbox!
Subscribe to the e-blast here.
It’s the joy of our lives to support our community’s littlest learners and it wouldn’t be possible without your support. Thank you for being an ambassador for quality early childhood education. It’s going to be a fantastic school year!
We love connecting with our community advocates. If you would like to connect, reach out to our Development Director, Mariah Roady or our Engagement Coordinator, Emily Wellborn.
